Books!!! We love them around here and thought that the internet needed juuuuuuust one more book post for January 2018. 😉 So as not to make you wait with bated breath, here’s what we’re reading this winter.
This year my reading list is going to be a little less fun. I do have a couple of books that are for pleasure, though. This spring, the plan is my read to build my skill set instead of pleasure.
My list of projects to improve my homemaking and home are long this year. A lot of prep, research, and planning should help my end goal this year. With that in mind, I’ll be reading The Vegetable Gardner’s Bible by Edward C. Smith as well as Grow Great Grub by Gayla Trail to help my green thumb get a little greener. I’m also going to work to improve my sewing with The Sewing Book by Alison Smith. Finally, to improve my writing, I’ll be reading Everybody Writes by Ann Handley.
Once my learning spree is complete, I’ll read some fun books. Here are the two that I cannot wait to dive into: The Masterpiece by Francine Rivers and Under the Cajun Moon by Mindy Starns Clark.
I am a voracious reader when time allows. Part of my intentional 2018 is to ensure that there is plenty of time for just that.
I got The Princess Bride for Christmas. Y’all, it’s illustrated and fantastic. I’m pretty psyched about this gift.
Then, of course, there’s my Catholic Study Bible so I can do my Bible study reading. That polka-dot one is actually a prayer devotional/journal called 31 Days of Prayer.
I also got Joy to the World for Christmas and am working my way to that one. Another gift was The 21 Undeniable Secrets of Marriage and as soon as we finish up the (not pictured) My Hand in Yours, Our Hand in His devotional, we’re jumping into that one.
The top book is Laugh It Up by Candace Payne (aka Chewbacca Mom). I heard her on the Jennifer Fulwiler Show recently and loved how she spoke about joy, so I had to get it. I’m almost done, and it’s been great.
The very top, spiral journal is my prayer journal where I write my prayers and thoughts on the readings and the daily Blessed Is She devotions.
